  • Soothe, Satiate and Satisfy Sensitive Skin – Lather Up!

    freida22

Over the past few years, I’ve noticed an increase in people with sensitive skin. From friends to family and even colleagues, there seems to be a rise in skin sensitivity which suggests there is a rise in environmental pollutants, the severity of the sun’s rays and our bodies reactions to the myriad of chemicals and other irritants populating our air  food and water supply.

With spring in full swing and pollen counts soaring higher and higher every day, I wanted to do a post on how to soothe, satiate and satisfy sensitive skin. So, in order to help those of you who are fighting inflammation, tightness, itchiness, redness, puffiness and just plain discomfort, I interviewed Shaana Melendrez, the National Sales and Training Director for Lather, an amazing skin care company based in Pasadena whose sole mission is to help keep skin healthy, balanced and beautiful! • Product Review: Clinique All About Eyes Serum De-Puffing Eye Massage

    P257537_hero

Clinique has always been revolutionary when it comes to creating skin care that is both simple to use and highly effective and at a price point that won’t send your wallet into shock. Being that I absolutely love everything I’ve ever used by Clinique, I was very excited to try out their latest product – the All About Eyes Serum De-Puffing Eye Massage.

The name of this product couldn’t be more spot on.  This roll-on gel is definitely an eye massage in a bottle that goes on leaving skin cool and smooth. What’s great about this application method verus traditional eye serums is that you are able to deliver the exact amount of product to the desired area without overdoing or underdoing it.

  • Winter Skin Retreat

    Whoop_Ash

I have had the pleasure of keeping my skin soft and supple throughout this unusually bitter Atlanta winter thanks to Whoop Ash - an incredible product created by Sheree Fletcher, Will Smith’s former wife and the mother of their first child Trey.

The first time I spread the thick yet smooth body butter onto my skin, I felt the effects of the pure shea butter, white honey, grapeseed oil, coconut oil and mango butter. The emollient butter doesn’t leave my skin feeling greasy and also leaves my skin smelling sweet which is an added bonus. If you’re battling the bitter winter weather and want to keep your skin from becoming ashy, scaly and rough, you have to get your Whoop Ash on!

  • Birds and the Bees

Caring for biracial children’s skin can be a bit of a daunting task. What products do you use and should you use products that are recommended for one race over another? The answer to this question is to figure out what skin type your little one has. Are they oily, dry, combination, sensitive or normal? Next, you will need to realize that if they happen to be part African-American, they may be prone to ashiness that often results in a layer of dry skin that leaves skin looking dull. It is important to use quality skin care products without parabens and other toxins on your child’s skin. Burt’s Bees is one of my favorite skin care lines as it is certified organic and has a range of products for children that are safe and effective. One of the products that come highly recommended is the buttermilk bath soap since it leaves skin smooth and soft and doesn’t contain harsh dyes, perfumes or chemicals.
