Rihanna is a style icon known for her ever-changing hair color, mixing high and low fashion and rocking the hottest nail trends of the moment. True to her usual daring style, she repped some seriously stylish Minx Nails at the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards. Applied by world renown celebrity manicurist Kimmie Kyees, Rihanna’s Minx Nails in “100 dollar bill” and ““£ 50 Note”, this cutting-edge look is sure to catch on with the fashionably fabulous set all over the world. I love the decadent appeal of the money-inspired Minx Nail creations as it comes across as though you shredded up a $100 dollar bill and had your manicurist apply the shredded currency to your nails – tres gauche! Check out close-ups of this rich manicure!
If you love Rihanna for taking chances with her look then you will no doubt love her latest hairstyle – dreads! She recently donned a head-full of long, thick, dark dreads during her performance of her new song “Where Have U Been?” on Fox’s American Idol! Even though the dreads are obviously fake, they do lend a certain earthy sensuality that is very appealing and works well with Rihanna’s Caribbean roots. Do you love it or hate it? Weigh in!
Rihanna is back and in full effect with her latest single Where Have You Been which is flying up the charts. There has been major anticipation for her latest video since she shot several behind the scenes features and showcased them one at a time on her website. Well, for those of you waiting to see Rihanna’s work of art, check out this hot music video for “Where Have You Been?”:embedded by Embedded Video
I love discovering new singers, especially ones who are a bit edgy yet still feminine and who maintain a sense of passion and strength in their music. Check out one of the newest artists to sign to Jay Z’s Roc Nation label – Rita Ora. She was born in Yogoslavia and raised in the UK. She is of mixed heritage. With her bleach blonde hair and fiesty persona, many people are comparing her to labelmate Rihanna. Even though the comparison is understandable, it’s unfounded as Rita has her own style which is sure to evolve as she continues to grow as a person and an artist.embedded by Embedded Video
Rihanna is a trendsetter and fashion icon. She’s always breaking the mold and pulling out all of the stops with compelling outfits that go beyond the mainstream looks we see at our local malls and retailers. She’s all about being herself and creating new ways to wear different items that we never would think could work. Well, after several years of working with the top stylists and designers, it seems as though the fashion bug has bit the Barbadian superstar. She recently discussed her aspirations on Ryan Seacreast’s top rated radio show in LA:
“‘I’m really pursuing a fashion line of my own. I want to design. This is also a road that I want to earn it. So I’m working with designers. Designers that I respect, and [fashion] companies that I respect. I want people to really trust me before I just say ‘Buy it, because it’s mine.’”
I can only imagine how cool her line would be. I hope she goes the H&M route and makes her line affordable so that everyone can try out the Rihanna look. Knowing Rihanna, it will be anything but ordinary. Stay tuned for more info!
