  • Product Review: Urbanbella Signature Series Hair Care Line

One of the perks of being a beauty writer and blogger is getting the opportunity to try out new products. Just the other day, I received a package from Urbanbella - a curly hair sanctuary nestled in the heart of Buckhead, a tony neighborhood in Atlanta. Along with curly hair consultations and styling, Urbanbella sold many of the top curly hair care brands on the market including; Curls, Jane Carter Solution Phyto, Hair Rules and many more. Over the years, Keneesha Hudson, the owner of Urbanbella decided to venture out and create her own signature hair care line for curly hair.

That’s how Urbanbella Sigature Series Hair Care came about. Keneesha had the desire to produce a quality hair care line that addressed all of the needs of her clients and curly hair women everywhere. One of the very first things I noticed when using this line is the incredible scents. Being that the aroma of a product is highly important to me, I was super happy that each product smelled utterly delicious. Another aspect that caught my attention is that this collection is paraben, silicon and sulfate-free. As someone who seeks out healthy hair care, skincare and beauty products, I was thrilled at the prospect of treating my hair to a healthy line of products that wouldn’t cause any damage or harm. • Product Review: China Glaze – Avant Garden Spring 2013

Are you feeling the need to spring clean your beauty regimen? One of the easiest ways to do that is by incorporating spring ready nail shades into your mani/pedi routine. China Glaze recently launched Avant Garden, a stunning collection of twelve floral inspired hues that were made to brighten your life and your look.

I just received the entire collection and I was super excited to check them out. I love every single color! This collection is a must-have for any girl who lives for brights and pastels. You are sure to find several shades that will become your go-to hues throughout the spring.

My personal favorites have to be:

Tart-Y for the Pardy – a perfect creamy lavender

Sunday Funday – a vibrant teal

Mimosas Before Manis – a delicious medium coral

One of the reasons why China Glaze stays at the top of my list for nail polishes is the amazing formula. These polishes glide on smooth and effortless for a perfectly painted nail each and every time. The polishes are also very pigmented so one or two coats are always all you will ever need.

  • Product Review: RX for Brown Skin Gentle Cleanser

One of the perks of being a beauty editor is all of the fun samples I get to test and try out. A while back I received some skincare samples from RX for Brown Skin. One of the samples was their Gentle Cleanser. I recently ran out of my current facial cleanser and went searching through my product closet for something new to try. I grabbed the bottle of RX for Brown Skin Gentle Cleanser and I am so glad that I did. The lightweight slightly foaming cleanser is exactly what my normal/dry skin needs. With the cold dry air that has been blasting through Atlanta over the past few months, my need for moisture and hydration has gone through the roof.

Times like these call for gentle cleansers that will wash away the dirt, oil and makeup without stripping skin of its natural oils. RX for Brown Skin Gentle Cleanser is both oil-free and fragrance-free which means its ideal for those with sensitive and oily skin. The cleanser also includes the bright skin complex which is a combination of soy, pomegranate and hyaluronic acid which evens out the complexion, protects skin from free radical damage and nourishes skin for a smoother, softer appearance.

I highly recommend this gentle cleanser for those of you seeking a facial cleanser that leaves you feeling refreshed and clean without drying out your skin.

  • Product Review: AG Recoil Curl Activator

This is not me! It's a pic of a gorgeous curly girl!

Ever since the winter season began, my poor hair has been dry, lackluster and in dire need of some therapy. When I’m not wearing it straight, I try to let it be and wear it curly but I wasn’t having much luck with my usual products. Fortunately, there is always some magical product waiting to be discovered in my ample beauty closet. I reached into the hair care section and pulled out the AG Recoil Curl Activator.

At first glance, it seemed just like any other curly hair cream or gel. It’s a creamy, lightweight creamy gel that goes on smooth and effortless. The trick is to slightly wet your hair or at least dampen your hair before applying this product. I use about a quarter-size to half-dollar amount of product as I have a lot of hair and want all of my curls to be coated. I let the product soak into the hair and let it slightly air dry before styling.

My curls have never looked better. Not only are they defined but they are not crunchy and sticky. My hair looks touchable and soft minus any frizz or flyaways. It is seriously going to be my go-to curly product for the rest of 2013. I am so happy that I found a product that makes my curly hair look its best. I am motivated to wear my curly hair out and down this year as it has grown out quite a bit over the past two years. I highly recommend this product for any curly girls out there who aren’t happy with their current curly regimen.

The AG Recoil Curl Activator retails for $20 at and Ulta stores nationwide.

  • I’m Currently Obsessed With…Soap & Glory’s Hand Food – Hydrating Hand Cream

Dry, cracked hands and ragged, torn cuticles are the hallmarks of the winter season. Every fall and winter, my poor hands and nails take a serious beating from the cold, dry air and the blasts of artificial heat. My skin tends to lean more towards the dry side than the oily side which means I have to maintain my moisture levels as soon as the weather dips below 50 degrees. One of the most important weapons against dry hands and cuticles is a quality hand cream. I have used them all and lately I have found that I prefer a hand cream that isn’t overly greasy leaving my hands an oily mess.

While perusing my favorite YouTube beauty gurus, I came across a mention of Hand Food by Soap & Glory, one of my favorite new brands! I checked it out and was pleasantly surprised at the positive reviews it received from customers around the world. One of the main things many of the reviewers loved about this product was the delicious smell. They also raved about how soft and smooth their hands and cuticles were after just one use of the product. According to the website, Hand Food includes shea butter, marshmallow and macadamia oil along with Soap & Glory’s Signature Pink Fragrance for a unique hand cream that goes above and beyond anything you’ve ever tried.

Stay tuned for a product review in the very near future!
