  • Product Review: Dark and Lovely Au Naturale 10-in-1 Styles Gelee

As the humidity begins to make its evil attack on the city of Atlanta, I can already feel my curls beginning to plump and frizz. As I continue to grow out my naturally curly/wavy hair, I am always on the hunt for frizz-fighting products that will help showcase my curl pattern while limiting the fuzzies. I recently had the opportunity to attend the Dark and Lovely Au Naturale Curls Rocks event here in Atlanta. Hosted by CurlyNikki and Keisha Knight Pulliam. There were hundreds of curly girls in attendance who got the chance to sample the products while sipping on mango-tinis and learning all about Dark and Lovely’s amazing new product line Au Naturale.

Being that sampling is one of the best aspects of attending hair care events, I got the chance to try out the 10-in-1 Styles Gelee. The lightweight creamy consistency works great with my texture. With Mango Oil and Bamboo Milk, this crunchless gel will keep your curls in place while maximizing the shine and definition. Another great reason to love this product is that it has an Anti-Shrinkage formula which will help you get the most out of your curls and coils. I love this product especially for the spring and summer when we tend to spend more time outdoors.

I highly recommend this product for all my curly girls!

  • Product Review: China Glaze No Chip Top Coat

I love doing my own manicures and pedicures. Every week, I sit down at my manicure station and go through the ritual of filing, buffing and painting my nails. When it comes to creating a salon quality mani, one of my most important must-have products is an amazing top coat. My new favorite is the China Glaze No Chip Top Coat. Not only does it glide on smooth and give my nails a diamond like finish and shine, it truly is chip resistant as my current manicure hasn’t chipped once and it’s been at least four days and counting.

Another great feature of the No Chip Top Coat is that it is DBP, Toulene and Formaldehyde-Free which means I can use this product without worrying about subjecting myself to harsh, toxic chemicals.

  • Product Review: Milani Cosmetics Eyeshadow Primer

Eyeshadow primer has become one of my must-have beauty products. For so many years, I didn’t realize the importance of using a primer before applying my eye makeup. From staying power to helping intensify the pigmentation of your shadows, a good eyeshadow primer is the foundation to any gorgeous eye look. My new favorite eyeshadow primer is the amazing Milani Eyeshadow primer. This creamy, lightweight primer glides on smooth with a slight hint of color which evens out my complexion and prepares my eyes for shadows of any kind.

What I love about this primer is that it keeps my shadows from creasing and slipping. It also maintains my eye look all night. I don’t have to worry about sweating, humidity or even rain causing my eye makeup to move. This primer works on all skin tones which is yet another benefit. I highly recommend this primer especially for makeup newbies in search of an affordable option.

  • Product Review: Purity of Elements Skincare

One of the most important aspects of spring beauty is fresh, healthy skin. I tend to ramp up my skincare efforts in the spring as I find myself spending more time outdoors which equals more exposure to the elements including the sun, rain and humidity. As a ritual, I love to switch up my wintery cream-based cleansers and heavy duty moisturizers in favor of lighter spring-ready skin care that still pack a powerful punch in the nurturing and protecting department. My new favorite skin care system consists of three skincare products from Purity of Elements, a natural skin care line founded by a mother and daughter duo. What makes Purity of Elements so unique is that unlike other natural or organic lines, this skin care line fuses natural ingredients, essences and antioxidants with scientific elements.

I started my journey towards spring ready skin with the Daily Purifying Polish, $32. This gentle facial scrub has an antioxidant rich formula with Jojoba oil, Mandarin Orange Extract, Soybean Germ Extract and Antioxidant Tea and Berry Blend. The scrub is very lightweight and smells very crisp and clean. I used a pea-sized amount for my face and neck and was very pleased with the consistency. It wasn’t too abrasive or harsh on the skin but at the same time I liked the way it removed any dry, chapped or flaky skin especially around my T-zone area. Continue Reading
