This is a powerful example of the change in beauty advertising that I recently posted about. Urban Decay just launched a new line of liquid foundations that come in a wide array of shades ranging from alabaster to ebony. The ad campaign showcases two women of color – an asian woman who represents the lighter side of the spectrum and an African American woman who represents the deeper side of the spectrum. What’s wonderful about this ad campaign and this line of foundations is that you can locate your exact shade based on your undertones. On the Urban Decay website there is a special page that allows you to pick the perfect foundation color for your complexion. Not only does it focus on undertones but there are actual pictures of women with the exact shade of the foundation so you can match your skin to the picture on the site. This is the future of beauty and it’s wonderful to see so many niche brands taking the lead and creating products that work for all women and not just a small percentage of the population. Kudos go out to Urban Decay!
