As the humidity begins to make its evil attack on the city of Atlanta, I can already feel my curls beginning to plump and frizz. As I continue to grow out my naturally curly/wavy hair, I am always on the hunt for frizz-fighting products that will help showcase my curl pattern while limiting the fuzzies. I recently had the opportunity to attend the Dark and Lovely Au Naturale Curls Rocks event here in Atlanta. Hosted by CurlyNikki and Keisha Knight Pulliam. There were hundreds of curly girls in attendance who got the chance to sample the products while sipping on mango-tinis and learning all about Dark and Lovely’s amazing new product line Au Naturale.
Being that sampling is one of the best aspects of attending hair care events, I got the chance to try out the 10-in-1 Styles Gelee. The lightweight creamy consistency works great with my texture. With Mango Oil and Bamboo Milk, this crunchless gel will keep your curls in place while maximizing the shine and definition. Another great reason to love this product is that it has an Anti-Shrinkage formula which will help you get the most out of your curls and coils. I love this product especially for the spring and summer when we tend to spend more time outdoors.
I highly recommend this product for all my curly girls!

One of the many reasons why I haven’t been posting as frequently as in the past is due to my serious influx of freelance work ever since the new year began. From writing for Juicy Magazine, Sister 2 Sister and JET Magazine to working full-time as a digital copywriter for a marketing/advertising firm to editing and creating content for Compendium Publishing, the group that handles CVS Reinventing Beauty, I am booked solid these days! Well, I am so happy to announce my newest venture which I started in February of this year. I handle all social media for the amazing hair care company Mixed Chicks! If you haven’t heard of Mixed Chicks, you need to check them out! Mixed Chicks is the brainchild of friends, mixed chicks and curly girls Wendi Levy and Kim Etheredge. They created the hair care line after so many years of frustration in search of products that would work well with their multi-textured tresses. It is truly an honor to be working with these two incredible ladies and their staff! To check out my blog posts - click here.

As a curly girl over the years, I have come to appreciate the art of experimentation. When it comes to picking out products that give me the curls of my dreams, I have tried just about everything on the market and am always on the lookout for new launches. One of my current favorites is Design Essentials Daily Moisturizing Lotion. This lightweight nourishing styling aid is the perfect go-to product for my daily curly regimen. After rinsing my hair or lightly spritzing it with water to get my curls activated and alive, I squeeze about a quarter size amount of the Moisturizing Lotion into the palm of my hand and generously rake it through my curls and waves. It smells delicious and instantly adds definition to my curls while keeping my hair shiny and healthy-looking. . With olive, cocoa and jojoba oils, my hair is instantly hydrated while wheat proteins add shine and give my hair that added polish.
This amazing styling aid is a must-have for curly girls of all textures!
Curly hair can be thick, fine, long, short and everything in between. For those of us with curly hair that is fine, we oftentimes find ourselves wishing we had more volume and height. Well, I scoured the internet in search of tips and tricks to help you achieve volume and I think you will find this YouTube tutorial quite helpful. Enjoy!
For those of you who live in the Atlanta area, yours truly will be speaking on a panel discussion about the media and black hair tomorrow at Spelman College. I am so honored to be a part of this panel discussion as I will be just one of several well-known media professionals, freelancers and bloggers. The event will be held at the Cosby Auditorium and begins at 6:00 pm. Hope you can attend!
