Fall 2013 Beauty Trends 101

Even though it still feels like we’re in the dead of summer here in Atlanta, the fact that fall (my favorite season) is only a few days away makes me both excited and anxious. With the changing of the seasons comes a need to change ones wardrobe, home decor and most importantly beauty routine. From skincare to hair care and even makeup, the fall season brings cooler temperatures, shorter days with natural sunlight and a tendency to go darker and deeper when it comes to hair color and makeup shades.

In order to help you (my loyal readers) navigate the fall 2013 beauty trends, I figured I would make it easy and simple with a few key trends to watch for and incorporate into your routine:

Oxblood lips are THE must have lip color this Fall. In the past, the deep reds, crimsons and wine colors have all been staples for autumn but this year, the color goes deeper, darker and much more dramatic. The best way to wear this dangerous color is matte or semi-matte. Glossy dark lips can look too vampy. Pair this bold lip with a very neutral eye and barely there cheek.

Make way for some dazzling braids this fall. There’s something about rocking a sophisticated braid with this season’s bold use of leather that seems chic and rock n’ roll at the same time! It’s important that your hair is in great condition as you want your braids to look their best this season. If your hair isn’t long enough to braid, just add some extensions to help you achieve the desired effect!

As a nail junkie, I am always on the hunt for the latest trends in nail color and nail design. This season is all about holographic nail polishes. Think futuristic style where the color changes depending on which angle you’re viewing the nail. Very high tech and fashion forward.
